Open House Nicosia announces the OPEN PHOTO photography competition, inviting the public to capture this year’s theme: “Geometry in the City.”
The theme “Geometry in the City” encourages participants to explore and capture the geometric elements embedded within the urban landscape. Through photography, participants are invited to highlight symmetries, lines, and shapes formed by the city’s architecture and built environment, such as staircases, corridors, balconies, and building façades.
Both amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to make use of composition, creating balance within the frame, experimenting with perspective and depth, and identifying recurring patterns, as well as vertical and horizontal lines that add rhythm and dynamism to the image. Participants may also explore contrasts of light and shadow, geometric forms, and abstract compositions emerging from everyday urban experience. The aim is to reveal the aesthetic qualities of the city through a more abstract and creative lens, transforming familiar urban elements into striking and visually compelling images.
