Open House is one of the most significant international festivals celebrating architecture and the built environment. Starting in London in 1992, it has evolved into a global network of more than 60 cities, inviting the public to discover the architecture and history of each location through free tours of public and private buildings.

As part of Open House Nicosia 2026, 39 buildings are opening their doors to the public, symbolically and practically transforming Nicosia into a living museum of architecture. The event extends beyond the walled city, covering various neighbourhoods to highlight the capital’s multifaceted identity. The programme includes a wide range of buildings that capture Nicosia’s architectural evolution: from historic residences and iconic listed buildings to modern offices, cultural institutions and innovative workspaces. The festival’s main activity, the building tours, is complemented by a rich parallel programme that enhances the overall visitor experience. This includes themed architectural and cultural walks, as well as a photography competition that encourages the public to capture their own perspective of the city and its urban spaces. All activities are offered free of charge.

The organising team aims to establish Open House Nicosia as a festival built on the principles of inclusion, equality and accessibility, offering opportunities for everyone, residents and visitors alike, to participate. The festival is organised by the NGO ‘Voices of the City – Open House Nicosia’. It is held under the Auspices of the Nicosia Municipality and is supported by the Cyprus Architects Association, ETEK and Visit Nicosia.
